Home At Long Last

I am very tired and still in pain in my leg. My bed calls me so I will have to stop writing for now.

Be safe people and remember, its a jungle out there.

Leg Pains

I hurt my left leg. I don’t know how but it burns and is in bad pain on the left side between the knee down into the ankle. I’d swear I twisted my ankle but I know I didn’t. Its a dull pain most of the time then gets a sudden sharp pain. It burns all the way down into the top of my foot.

Really wish it would stop – I’ve taken 7 Advil since 3 pm. Man it just hurts – even hurts to elevate it. I rub it and its better for a few minutes then starts hurting again. Probably put my heating pod on it when I get home.

Never Going to End

ohmygod! I have 3 hrs and 15 min to go and I’m clinching my teeth so hard I’m surprised they don’t break. maybe I need to get a book to read. I brought the one but it is on patience and love which makes me angry again.

I know God is patient with me and I should try to rise above this to be more like Him. But every time she barks at me I have to bite my tongue. I’m far from in my happy place.

Well, I vented a bit to my supervisor – we had a good laugh and I went for a walk so I do feel a tad bit better. Still have two more hours to go. I can’t wait for this day to be done. I’m just so irritated!

Some People…{sigh}

Ok, I’ve got to get my mind on something else – otherwise I’m gong to stew all night. I had a run in with one of the women in the fire pod tonight – she is so rude to everyone.

So I’ve narrowed the living room color down to three choices. I’m buying the paint tomorrow I think – will get started on painting Thursday. I have no extra money this payperiod but will slip in paint and a movie.

When I get the living room painted I will have to re-evaluate the pictures in there. I’m going to keep a safari wall but then do scenic pictures on the other ones. Probably mountains or trees.

The carpet will be next. I’m thinking I’ll just replace it with more carpet rather then mess with the other stuff. Who knows how long I’ll still live here? Maybe I’ll end up moving up north. Sorry, that is a comment stemming from my anger. I don’t where I’ll go or if I’ll go anywhere…I’m tired and angry.

I’m going to buy a sewing machine and make my own curtains. The windows are weird lengths and widths so I have trouble finding curtains I like. Man, I’m so tired.

I took a caffeine pill earlier which is probably wearing off causing the over-tiredness now. I’m feeling so exhausted. I could shut my eyes and be instantly asleep.

Really want to replace the stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer. Would also like a dishwasher too. One of these days I’m going to switch the kitchen counters around as well – hate the galley kitchen that cuts off the laundry room. Would rather have the wall back – have it set up like the 3 bedroom units.

Fire Pod Again

Really am not happy that I’m over here in fire again tonight. Its the people but also its just being over here again. It really irritates me. It should be every few days or once a week because there are others who are suppose to be working over here. I already have a headache and still have 7 1/2 hrs to go.

I can’t begin to express the burning anger I have over this. Its one of the supervisors who seems to stick back here whenever he is in charge. Not that I mind that much but two days in a row isn’t fair.

Well, anyway, I’m almost done bitching about this. Nothing I can do about it and eventually I’ll be over here every damn night when I learn fire dispatching. Am slightly miffed that a person with less seniority is being trained first but am not too upset because she is on the night shift so that saves me going to nights. Hopefully I’ll stay on evenings once I’m trained.

Bank Robbery

To follow up the helicopter crash, I had a bank robbery call. It is the second one I’ve had since starting here. I must say, I stayed much calmer this time. A lot of the “first time” calls freak a person, like me, out but now it is old hat.

My supervisor has told me I’m a shit magnet – I’ve had just about every type of call in our call book. The major ones I haven’t had are mass casualty incidents such as a commercial passenger plane crash or a hostage situation. I hope I never have either one.

So, a chopper crash and a bank robbery…hope this isn’t a warning of things to come today.

Helicopter Crash

First up when we got to work was a helicopter crash in the Gulf.

The chopper was filming a speed boat – no one knows for sure what happened. Maybe the chopper was to low or the pilot just lost control. There were three patients – two died enroute to the hospital and a third was flown via helicopter to Tampa.

Even though the people are all accounted for, we still called out our surf team to dive on the wreck which sits in 25 ft of water. The Coast Guard has their barge there to put all the wreckage on – especially the main helicopter parts as they life it off the Gulf floor.

Needless to say, the center was pretty crazy when I got here.

Honestly Folks…

I expected to be up early to write a post before work but after being up till 3 am again I just couldn’t even get up early enough to eat. I took a shower, stumbled into my clothes and out the door. Man, I’m so tired and still have ten hours to go. I really want a laptop so I can work on my website here.

Its the anniversary of 911. I have thoughts about that off and on all day. From a sadness point of view – it is a travesty what happened that day.

I have a political view but that is for another post. I will say I’m happy they aren’t showing the footage of the planes hitting the towers – it just upsets me so much.

Oh, Forgot Saving Grace

I am happy to report that Grace, in Saving Grace, did not sleep with anyone this episode. She didn’t even mention sex or think about it. If Holly Hunter could keep up episodes like this one, I think Saving Grace could have a good chance of going several seasons. :-)

Wish it would rain

It kept clouding over, teasing us with big storm bands moving across our viewing area but no rain. Rain keeps people inside – at least it does once they get inside. Sometimes the getting there is the problem.

Work was pretty uneventful tonight because I was in the fire pod rather then out on the floor. The floor was slammed but, lucky for me, they were mostly law calls not rescue ones.

I started the book “Missing” at 3pm and finished it around 9:30 pm. It was good – not gory and pretty fast paced. I figured out the killers too soon but that is usually the case. It would be hard to write a book with so many characters that the identity of the killer would be a surprise.

I can’t tell you right now who the author of the book is. I picked it up at the library today – I had it on reserve though I don’t really remember putting it on reserve because it was so long ago. Have another one on reserve that is still 46 checkouts before I get it.

Hard to believe I don’t have anything exciting or insightful to write about but I don’t and I’m so damn tired that I’m thinking I’ll just go to bed now that it is almost 1:30 am. I’m reluctant to because it means waking up and going back to work again right away but that is the way it goes. I keep telling myself to just keep my eyes on the prize of having three days off later this week. Plus that movie “Brave One” with Jodie Foster comes out on Friday so that gives me something to look forward to. My brother and I are going to “310 to Yuma” on Saturday. It should be good – I haven’t seen a new western since Tombstone…how long ago was that??

Be safe people and remember, its a jungle out there…and a lot of the apes have weapons. :-P
