Back in the corner of the room, with no say on what our pod watched on TV, I opened the book I had checkout out of the library an hour before going to work.
As always, I had searched for books on the library’s website from the comfort of my home computer. I found two that I thought might be interesting and ran to the library to get them – having been assured by the computer that they were both on shelf. The whole trip took less then ten minutes to go in, find the books and checkout. I love when I can do that.
The book I chose to take to work was “Right Hand of Evil” by John Saul. Basically it was pretty much in the same vein of his last book – he likes his religious horror topics I guess. I don’t find them interesting and had hoped that the “evil” that lived in the house was something more unique then Satan.
The book is about a house that has been passed down through generations. A big mansion, of course, that has a jaded past of disappearances and suicides. The new family, (husband, wife, daughter, son of course) move in and immediately the men in the family start acting strange. The previous owner had given the daughter a gold cross that she said would protect her against evil. With the cross, the daughter saves most of the family – excluding her father. The house, angry over losing its victims burns to the ground.
I’ve mentioned before that I don’t read cult or satanic fiction. I really hoped this one would be different but it wasn’t. It was so much like his other one that it was way too predictable. Not one I’d recommend.
I’m thinking about donating my book of his to our work library so I won’t feel inclined to have to buy them to complete the set.
