Polluting My Earth

That is what is so bizarre about the American legal system. Where else on earth would stealing from a phone booth be considered more serious than polluting the earth? –Laura Nader

At the Bay today I saw a guy throw his McDonald’s wrapper on the ground when there was a garbage can not more then six feet from where he was sitting.

When I got out of my car, picked up the wrapper and threw it away, I gave him a dirty look. He made a face back at me and called me a “green bitch.” I might have laughed if I wasn’t so angry.

I know that I’m not as Earth conscious as say, my niece, but I’m not a blatant polluter either. I try to do better all the time…someday I hope I can feel proud of my efforts.

This guy said he was giving job security to whoever was suppose to keep the park clean. I wanted to hit him – at the very least verbally abuse him but it is not in my nature.

People who act like this man stick in my craw. He is the type who throws lit cigarettes out the window causing brush fires; the kind who thinks nothing of throwing cans of beer (or anything else) into the Bay; and the kind who lets his dog poop in the common areas where children play.

Why can’t I have the power to write tickets for polluting? Why don’t they double or even triple the fines? Really pisses me off.
