Halfway mark finally past though my mind keeps screaming “Only halfway???”

Is there a full moon tonight? Maybe the tides are screwed up? Is the Earth still rotating on its axis correctly? At the rate we are getting weird calls today, something has to be seriously wrong out there.

I just had “The Interpreter for the Mother Country of Man vs Woman Hordes” call to tell me the Grim Reaper was residing in Sarasota and so was a doctor who cut off little kids heads. They both were working with the skinheads to clone bondsmen. She said she tried telling her local law agency (she is in Montana) but they had sarcastic witches answering the phones who were part of the conspiracy against the U.S.

She named several Americans who were really Russian spies. She said she is being followed and harassed by inhabitants of America who are very evil and intimidated by her psych powers.

I just listened to her until she was done ranting then told her we’d take care of it. It seemed to satisfy her and really, what else could I say or do?

While some of her claims were somewhat humorous – it is sad to think this woman is out there not getting help for her delusions. How many others are out there in a world of their own making where life is fanciful and yet so scary??

Out of Control

Had a lady that just called in wanting a unit to respond to her house because her 8 year old was out of control.

I really don’t understand how parents let children that old get so out of control that they have to call the police. They want an officer to calm the kid down and tell him to mind his Mom. When did we become babysitters and sarrogate parents???

It makes me nuts when people can’t control their kids. The kid is EIGHT years old for heaven sake.

First four hours are done. I didn’t go back to fire because I’m sick and they don’t want me spreading germs. We don’t have enough fire dispatchers to let any of them get sick. Really, I asked to stay where I was.

A really good cup of tea with honey sounds heavenly right now as does having a heating pad on my chest. Obviously I can’t have either because I didn’t bring either to work with me.

I was told, jokingly of course, to keep my eyes open because it is business hours with big wigs milling around who wouldn’t like to think I was sleeping on the job. I have two more hours until they leave for the day.

Dumbing Down of America!

Ok, have another complaint about the butchering of the English language.

Who came up with using “ite” rather then saying alright or OK?? There isn’t even an “e” in alright or OK.

More and more we sound like an ignorant nation. Immigrants who take English as a second language class speak our language better then we do. It’s terrible.

What’s worse is that the staff here all know what “ite” means so they don’t correct the ones who use it – making me seem like the stupid one because I ask them to show me where “ite” is in the dictionary.

You all remember the dictionary right? Its the big book that gives spelling, grammar and definitions of real words. Coarse, it is called the “RWB” now…standing for “real word book.” Just how stupid are we willing to become??

Hot Means Hot Stupid

Here I am again – its the start of my 1st 12hr day. I feel like I’ve been here a couple hours but its only been 30 minutes. It is going to be a very long day.

Part of the problem is I still don’t feel good. My eye is still running constantly – people keep asking me if I’m crying. I don’t want to keep wiping it because it hurts so much. Add my chest cold to that and I feel like I should be home in bed. But I want the extra vacation time that I get if I don’t call in sick all year so here I am.

Right now I’m in a corner so I can try to relax some. I’m at support today instead of 911 so I shouldn’t have too many medical calls unless 911 goes into queue. I like support but the calls are usually stupider and the people ruder. They want everyone to be able to handle their problems for them.

We were talking in briefing that people don’t take responsibility for themselves or their families anymore. Insurance companies want McDonald’s to quit selling french fries and hamburgers or, at the very least, make them more healthy to keep people from getting so fat.

I say, as do my coworkers, that we are adults who are capable of deciding what we eat. If we decide on McDonalds then we must like it as it is. I don’t need some company or government official dictating what I eat. McDonald’s provides the nutritional information which is all they should have to do. If we decide to eat it anyway, then that is our right as Americans.

McDonald’s, of course, won’t change their food – their business was built on the hamburger and fries. But why can’t people take responsibility for themselves? Like the lawsuit years ago over coffee being too hot so now they have to put a warning sign on the cups. People, coffee is hot and should be considered so by anyone who orders “hot coffee.”

There was a guy on one of the talk shows this morning who complained that his girlfriend tricked him into getting her pregnant. He said he didn’t think he should be held responsible for the baby because she said she was on the pill when she wasn’t. Duh, dumbass, that is why they make condoms, dude. If you aren’t smart enough to protect yourself then the baby is your responsibility.

I hate when people whine about the consequences of their actions – especially if they knew the consequences before hand. Take responsibility damn it! Quit being victims and start being ADULTS.
