Monsters

After spending several days bemoaning the fact that there is a real deficiency of scary books and/or movies, I’ve decided to see if I can write one myself. I want a book that is so taut with tension and scary that I’m afraid to read it after its written.

Really, aren’t we all kind of getting sick of vampires, werewolves, and the walking dead? Not, of course, that I’d miss seeing “Resident Evil 3” – it’s a classic. I also hope “30 days of nights” is good. Maybe that is because we haven’t had a good monster movie in awhile.

I long for a real “monster” movie and/or book. One that doesn’t involve genetic testing, humans transformed to monsters like in “Doom” and “Cave“, etc. I’d like one like “Deep Rising” … just a good, old fashioned monster movie.

I don’t know if I can write such a thing – I really have no ideas so far – but hey, it never hurts to give it a whirl.

Supper

So I made homemade pizza tonight – it was awesome! It must have weighed at least four pounds! It had three cups of cheese, a full pound of hamburger and a can of pineapple all on an extra thick crust.

I’d love to have another piece of it but I’m just too full. I’ll put it in the fridge for tomorrow’s lunch. I’m thinking about making tuna noodle casserole to take to work tomorrow night too.

The only downside to cooking is that I burnt my arm on the hot oven door when removing the pizza. I have about a 2 ½ inch welt that still stings. I don’t think it will blister too badly but last week I burnt a couple of fingers and they bothered me for days. I’m telling you, I’m dangerous in the kitchen. Just get easily distracted and end up doing stupid things. {sigh}

The Breed

Almost bought the movie “Breed” yesterday but wasn’t sure how good it would be. I wanted a good scary movie. Tonight I found the movie playing on TNT – pretty amazing coincidence huh?

It is about an island that two brothers inherit from a distant uncle. They take their friends there for a weekend getaway – having not been there themselves in over a decade. Unbeknownst to them, their uncle was involved in trying to genetically engineer attack dogs.

The dogs lived on the island and while they pulled a few stunts, basically they were just mean – kind of like Cujo in his final stages of rabies. Of course, they manage to kill half the group before the others get away. Michelle Rodriquez was the lead – she did a great job making me wish she’d get her life together and act in more good movies.

The movie was worth seeing. I’m sure they cut a lot out to fit it in the time slot so I’ll have to buy it to have on hand. Dogs chasing people make the hairs on the back of my neck rise – it really creeps me out. Of course, I should have just bought it because it was a Wes Craven production and there isn’t much he has done that I haven’t liked.

What to have for supper

I just can’t decide what to have for supper tonight. I could go get stuff for a homemade pizza which sounds good…or I could eat soup…or I could do something else. I can’t decide.

I’m hungry though.

Beautiful Day

It has been cloudy but beautiful out all day temperature wise. The sky looks so ominous though, I can’t believe it isn’t raining…especially since I washed my car today.

You wouldn’t believe all the mail I had in my mailbox today. It was from about a week or so of not checking it…I need to do it more but, just like taking out the trash, I dread doing it. I hate running into Lucinda.

But whatever. Today is a great day and I’m not going to spoil it with problems or thoughts about problems. :-)

Library

Well, my sister said I haven’t written enough on my blog so here goes…my day today.

I was late getting to Susan’s today because my alarm was set to NOT go off on Thursdays which, huh, today happens to be. So I went there and then went to the bay to relax. There was a fantastic breeze and the temp didn’t get over 75 so what a great day!!

Out in the bay a crab boat went around checking the white buoys – emptying them and resetting them in other areas. From the looks of it, they got quite a few crabs. What a boring ass job though – they had to have over a hundred to check.

From there I went to gas up the car and then to Arby’s for lunch. From there I came home to take a nap because I was still tired after staying up later last night. After that I went to the library and picked out five books – all from authors I’ve never read. The library was packed with transients hanging out looking for something to do. It is a little irritating because they hog all the chairs but oh well.

From there I went to Walgreens to get soda, milk and cookies. Came home and found out that there was a Criminal Intent marathon so turned that on. Unfortunately, it was one I had just seen so I put in the movie “Behind the Mask” which was actually not as bad as I thought it would be. It is about a serial killer who does a documentary with some college students on what it takes to be a serial killer. Then they realize, like duh, that the killer was including them in his plans.

After that movie, I had a bloody nose so had to take care of that. I turned back on Criminal Intent but it is another one I just saw. I could either put in another movie or go sit out on my patio. Personally, I’d do the patio thing but there are about eight kids outside playing on the sidewalk so I don’t think sitting out would be all that relaxing.

There is suppose to be a scary movie on tonight at 8pm on the Sci-fi channel that I want to see. I’ll have to tape the new Criminal Intent that is on at 10pm…unless the other one is done by then??

So there you have it, my day thus far. I’ve been observing and hearing the Bayflite helicopter flying around several times today so must be having car accidents in the area.

Be safe people and remember, its a jungle out there.
