Thursday Night

I have a headache. On the plus side, my eye isn’t watering quite as much so maybe it was just allergies afterall.

Really, I’ve pretty much been a bum today. I went to the bay about 8:30am but haven’t done a lot since. I got the kitchen drain unclogged finally and ran to the store.

At home I picked up, did dishes, started laundry and typed in the posts from Wednesday. I picked out pictures for eight frames I bought and got them hung in the living room.

It isn’t that late but I feel ready for bed. Kind of surprised as it is two hours before my regular bedtime. Maybe I’ll start getting my sleep cycle regulated – its one of those things Wellbutrin and Paxil are suppose to do.

I’ve been eating salt right out of the salt shaker today so that probably accounts for feeling bloated. I need to stop doing that but somedays I just crave salt. I use to never keep it in the house for that very reason – salt or sugar either one – guess I may have to go back to that. Well, time for bed.

Another Road Angel

We had several major car accidents last night. Our worst one didn’t involve cars though – it involved ATV’s.

Two young girls were out on backroads on ATV’s – probably goofing off and enjoying their Halloween. They were young so probably hadn’t had their licenses too long.

A deputy driving on the roadway noticed an ATV on it’s side in the ditch. When he stopped he found two ATV’s and two young girls, unconscious and badly injured. We assume they collided and, beings that ATV’s don’t have seatbelts, were thrown.

Both girls were in bad shape – we don’t know how long they laid there before the deputy found them. Both had to be airlifted to Tampa’s trauma center – I don’t know what their prognoses is but they weren’t doing so good last night.

Halloween Calls

We received many calls today that were more then a little batty. I’ve summarized them which takes away from the ambience of the call but I can’t write them all out word for word.

Had a woman call because there were teens running around in masks – shouldn’t there be a restriction that only “little” kids can wear Halloween costumes?

Had a very rude old man call because he wanted a deputy at his subdivision gate to check id’s on the kids trick or treating. He didn’t want to waste his candy on kids who didn’t live there.

FPL had an electrical issue so many of the street lights in one area were on flash. A guy called in saying it was the damn kids fault because they were using their computers to mess with the lights to piss people off.

Had a woman down visiting from IL call to ask if tourists were allowed to take their kids trick or treating.

The call that made everyone’s night though was a woman who swore there was a UFO hovering above the tree in her front yard. She had been watching it for twenty minutes and it hadn’t moved. It did, however, change colors in sync with the stop light on the corner. She was very serious and very worried about what the aliens might want. It was a silver electrical transformer that was reflecting the street lights and stop light.

Angels on the Road

Briefing yesterday started a few minutes late because everyone was in the grips of a call that came in two minutes before briefing was to start.

A deputy was driving by one of our state parks when he saw a car skid out of control across the roadway, go airborne, flip upside down and land in the river. It was submerged before the Deputy could even get pulled over – he noticed that no one was surfacing. He radio’d that a car was in the water, gave the general location and jumped in the water.

Another deputy was close by and made it to the scene very quickly. The 1st deputy couldn’t get the door of the sunken vehicle open but could see an unconscious female inside.

The second deputy grabbed his crowbar and dove in as well. Together they managegd to break the glass of the window and pull the woman out. She was still unconscious but with the help of these deputies and rescue teams who surged on the area, she will live.

This woman was very, very lucky – someone was watching over her and made sure there were angels on the road at precisely the right moment to save her.

House

The book “House” is a collaboration between authors Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. I have never read either of them before but the book sounded interesting. I started it at 3pm and finished it just before midnight – had I not had a lot of interruptions, I probably would have finished it in six hours.

“House” is about a demon who travels around the country seeking out old, vacant houses where he rises other demons to make the house seem alive. The demon then engineers car accidents on unsuspecting motorists who walk to this house to use their telephone. The demons then spend all night terrorizing the unfortunate folks until dawn when everyone dies.

The crux of the story is that everyone has sinned and therefore worthy of death. Without giving away a lot of details, think Jesus vs Satan on a much smaller scale – say a house of people rather then the entire earth. Obviously the group will divide according to their beliefs and the pureness of their hearts.

The book was gripping though a tadbit predictable once I figured out who was who. Still I did enjoy it and was pleasantly surprised with which characters stepped up vs who were consumed by evil.

I’m not a fan of religious horror with demons…or religious cults either. I know I’ve said it before but these kind of books bother me too much mentally and spiritually. Part of it is having to face the knowledge that if I believe God is watching over me, I must believe Satan is too. I do believe God is watching over me but I don’t want to think about the Satan part.

Most people I know who like to read don’t like these kind of books either so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know. However, if you do enjoy the eternal struggle between good and evil then you’d probably enjoy “House.”
