What About Baxter?

In the middle of the five hours Teddy let me sleep, the name Baxter started coming out of my mouth instead of Teddy. He looks more like a Baxter.

It is now, literally, the crack of dawn and I am up. Took Baxter out for his morning constitution – boy does he have a lot of energy! He slept very well on my bed all night but decided that 6:15 am was the time the household should awaken. This, of course, is something we’ll have to discuss because when I don’t go to bed till 1am – 6:15 is too damn early.

Simon made himself a fort of pillows last night and slept inside…I kid you not. I was looking for him & wondered how all my pillows got in the corner – when I moved them, he just stared up at me. I tried telling him this is how Mabel felt when I brought him home but so far he isn’t buying it. At least he has gone from afraid to a little bit curious as to what Baxter is doing. I hope they will be friends.

I have to be to work in 4 hrs. Am not sure how I will separate them for the day – probably keep Simon in the bedroom so he can look out the window.

I wondered, as I strolled down our sidewalk a few minutes ago, what I’ve gotten myself into but Baxter is so affectionate and sweet – it is like we’ve been together since his birth. I think he fell in love with me when I scratched behind his ears – poor little fellow. Hate the thought that someone could neglect or abuse him.

New Addition

After work tonight I picked up a full bred Pekingese – 1 yr old male. His name is “Teddy” though I don’t know if I’ll keep it that – he is mostly white with a cute little snubbed face.

Teddy had been abused by his previous owner but he seemed like such a sweetheart I couldn’t say no to him. I would never have picked this breed for owning myself but he really is cute. I hope he doesn’t have fleas. I’m told he is potty trained – sure hope so. Took him for a walk when I got home and he did his business quickly. He is very energetic so I’m looking forward already to our morning walk.

He came right in the house like he owned it – sending Simon hissing up the stairs. He has been very quiet so far – hope that continues as well. Right now he stinks pretty badly but I don’t have any time to clean him till Monday. I’m not sure what to clean him with yet either as I know nothing about this breed.

So anyway, that has been my evening since getting home. Anyone have any input about dogs in general, I’d love to hear it.
