Late Last Night

Man, I’m exhausted tonight. I would love to go to bed now but know that I’d be up early if I did. Really got a lot accomplished today – it makes me realize how there is so much more to do though. Guess there is plenty of time right now.

The temp has really dropped here – tomorrow’s high is suppose to be in the 50’s with the low in the 30’s. Then we will warm up again after that. Hope it doesn’t warm up higher then the 60’s during the day and 40’s at night. It is one thing to have hot, humid weather during the summer but another to have them in the middle of winter. Pisses me off.

Baxter really got worn out today as well. I think he has a cold so heated up some chicken broth for us to share. He loves that stuff as much as I do. I heat up a can and while I do drink most of it, he enjoys having a cup or so. He hardly ate anything today and he keeps sneezing which is why I think it is a cold…that or maybe allergies. I know I’ve been sneezing and sniffling all day too from allergies…working outside in the plant bed didn’t help any and he was out there with me. Amazing how much more enjoyable it was with him out there too. He enjoyed digging in the dirt and sitting under the tree.

I was at the stove with my back to the counter when I started smelling something strange. I had lit some candles and just fed the animals. When I turned around was amazed that Simon was sitting there eating with his tail being singed by the candle. He wasn’t even aware it was happening. Sure stunk though. Don’t know how he couldn’t feel it.

Well, I think I’m going to go find a book to read for a few hours. I don’t feel like watching tv and am too tired to keep writing on the computer. Since it is too early to go to bed, reading sounds like the next best thing. :-)

Weather Woes Again

Took Baxter out for his last walk tonight – it was pretty damn frosty out. Actually, I’d say it was in the low 40’s but with the moist breeze it brought it down to the 30’s for a “feels like” temp.

Have I ever mentioned the trouble Baxter use to have lifting his leg up to pee? It was so funny because he’d lift it up and lose his balance every time. He finally mastered the technique but I tell you, it was hilarious to watch…he tried so hard. Tonight he was fine with me as long as I wanted to go his way – he is so stubborn. I made him go my way but he lags behind to let me know he isn’t happy about it.

Today was pretty strange weather wise. The wind has been blowing hard since last night – I mean knock the plants over hard. What was so weird was how, this evening, the wind just suddenly stopped. One second it was blowing hard and the next it was gone…never seen anything like it. It was like someone shut off a fan or something. Now there is a slight breeze out but otherwise still – no crickets out tonight either.

Sure hope I get my internet back tomorrow – sick of going to the library all the time.

Fellow Wyoming Campers

To my fellow rustic campers in June – there are several web cams set up in the park…did you know that? Very cool. Speaking of cool – it is 28 degrees there and snow is on the ground! I saw one picture on the internet where the snow was coming down in mid-June!! Can’t wait to go!!!

Statistics Don’t Lie…

I have had some really good days of blog stats lately. Who is reading my site? I didn’t get any comments from new people so what is up with that? If you read it, you should comment on something or just say “hi” so I know who is reading my stuff. Kris, hope no one else at work is reading my stuff…you promised. Erik told me he read “Friday the 13th” over your shoulder last week – he thought it was funny. Still, I don’t want others from work reading my site…it is suppose to be a place for me to vent about work and life. :-)

Not that I mind all the hits on my blog from strangers…I like seeing that people are reading what I write…but a comment now and then would be nice as well!! :-)

Bummer

I wrote several posts at home and was just going to copy them onto the website but alas, things are never that simple. My program at home is not the same as what is here and it won’t convert them so all that writing was for nothing. I’ll take the disk home and re-save everything in txt format for tomorrow. Course, maybe my internet will work tomorrow???

Took Baxter to the paw park – he had a blast. I took him into the big dog area which is about 10x bigger then the small dog one. There were a lot of dogs there today and he just ran and ran and ran around with them. I finally caught up to him at the water bowl – he doesn’t come at all when I call his name or try to get him to come to me. So many of the other dogs minded their masters, I was jealous. Wayne said the park up in IC isn’t as nice as ours – still, Baxter will love going and he’ll have a friend already in Wayne’s dog.

Had one little dog snap a piece of hamburger out of my hand so fast that I had to check to make sure my fingers were still there. I was feeding it to Baxter. Luckily, I planned on another dog taking his food because he won’t fight for it – so I brought two hamburgers and while the one was eating the first one, Baxter ate the second. Pretty smart huh?

I cleared out my flower bed today – giving away some of the plants and all the empty pots. No point buying more plants when I hope to be moving soon. The Jade plant has to go back with me…am not sure how that will work because it is huge but I won’t give it up…it is beautiful. It, also, is the first time I’ve been able to grow a jade plant from a small one into something this big – I think I always overwatered them before. This one truly is magnificent and people envy me it.

I need to go home shortly and shampoo out the back seat as Baxter threw up again on our way to the dog park. I told him we weren’t going again until I get a carrier for him – think the motion and looking out the window gives him motion sickness. I guess on the way to Iowa the dog and cat and jade plant can share the backseat. LOL.

I also want to shampoo Baxter today and finish cleaning the house. It has been a very productive day.

Tidbits on Wyoming

Tidbits on Wyoming

I am still doing research on Wyoming and going there in June. I’m told that May-June is spring in the park and that some roads may still be blocked by snow. Ours shouldn’t be. Peak months, surprisingly, is July and August. I guess it really is spring 6 months out of the year. You figure Arizona’s spring is Feb-March, Iowa’s spring is March-May, then drive to Wyoming for spring May & June, then trek on up to Montana where spring is June and July.

I’ve read that in the park we will probably not encounter any bears. Apparently they stay away from visitors as much as possible. They do suggest taking a bear whistle though to blow when you are in the backwoods. Visitors should be more cautious around the bison, elk, and moose as there are more injuries to people from them then bears. The rule seems to be, if the animal makes eye contact with you then you are already too close.

There are geothermic areas…not too sure what that means…guess that it has natural heat as the water is 200 degrees. But what heats it? Naturally warm springs…something has to be heating it. I guess I’ll have to ask my niece who is into geology.

I’m going to have to buy a camera that is better then the one I have now. I want some awesome pictures. I can’t wait to go hiking. Looking at pictures others have taken takes my breath away. The mountains truly are gorgeous.
