A Little About A Lot

Another Saturday morning almost gone. Baxter and I went to the park today. We had a good time and both of us were worn out by the end of the fourth round. I can tell it is getting hotter here already – it is so humid out you start sweating before you even get out of the doorway to the house. There is a slight breeze but even it will be gone in another hour or so.

I need to get to the library because I need to take a nap before I go to work today. Sleep eluded me quite a bit so halfway through the night I got up and took another sleeping pill with half a glass of wine. That did the trick but now I’m still tired.

Today is “civies” day so can wear whatever we want as long as it isn’t: short shirts, shirts that show cleavage, no shirts that are even the slightest transparent, shirts with ANY kind of writing unless it is the sheriff’s office or one of the agencies we serve such as “Venice Fire Department” or something similar, no hats, nothing with any sort of sports emblems, shorts, skirts if you don’t wear a slip, capries, or sandals of any sort including clogs and mules. By the time a person adheres to the rules, there isn’t much left to wear but jeans and a tank top or regular shirt. So civvies day is also something tightly regulated by the Gestapo. If you are found to be in violation of the “civvies” dress code, you can be sent home to change and/or your civvies day privileges revoked. No, this is a democracy, not a dictatorship…where’d you get that idea?

Our “freedoms” are really so limited in the United States that calling us a democracy is idiocy. What is worse is that some people thing Uncle Sam should do even more to regulate it’s citizen’s such as – no profanity in public, “giving the finger” would be illegal, etc. I can think of others but those two have been on my mind lately from calls I have received.

Well, time to go to the library. If I get stuck on the topic of politics, I’d be at the computer all day. I know I’m in the fire pod tonight so will have to make sure I take stuff to do.

Dating in the Park

Got a lot accomplished at work this evening. I filed my income taxes, filled out the application for the University and printed out a bunch of job information. The University has the drawback that I have to take a typing test that has to be done in person before they can consider me for any positions. Still, at least the actual application is ready to go.

I also put in for the County to email me as new jobs become available – so hopefully something will come through soon. I haven’t got the condo thing worked out yet. If I wanted to work two jobs up in IC, I could keep the condo until I can sell it in October. The nice thing about that is I don’t have to worry about someone trashing it – but if I get a person I work with that I trust in there, then I can’t imagine them trashing it. Will have to see.

One of the people at work has had his condo up for sale for over seven months without many prospects and his is quite a bit nicer then mine. Mine has location going for it but that is about it. He had totally remodeled his kitchen with all the latest and greatest appliances, etc. He tried to rent it before deciding to sell it and came back with a lot of the same problems I encounter. He is moving to Texas.

I do have a question about selling my place – do I have to pay for the appraisal on the place or is it something the realitor takes care of and then takes it out of the profit? I’ve never sold anything before so am totally at a loss on how it works.

Well, anyway, I’m exhausted and it is a 12 hr day tomorrow. I have to get up early to get a good walk in with Baxter too. Oh, my friend Roni at work will be moving to day shift the end of February. I was flabbergasted because she constantly complains about hating the people and supervisors on days. She has met someone though and doesn’t like working evenings when he is off. Oh the things we do for love. Hope it works out for her. I really do wish for her happiness – it has been a hard two years so she deserves a break.

At the park today, while walking Baxter, a guy about my age struck up a conversation. He seemed nice enough and stuff but I could tell when he started asking me personal questions – like if I was ‘taken’ or seeing anyone right now that he was leading up to asking me out. I told him I was moving in a few weeks so didn’t have time to be seeing anyone right now. He walked around the park a bit with us – which annoyed me because it is my time with Baxter – but he seemed to be working up to something I didn’t want to hear so Baxter and I made our excuses and booked out of there. Last thing I need is to start dating someone when I’m this close to moving.
