Ah…joy

Well, here it is my 1st of 3 days off. It is a beautiful day here in paradise. Maybe I can’t leave all this sunshine and warm temps…psyche – just joking.

I must say, I’m anxious to get home to Iowa in so many ways. In other ways, I’m going to miss this tropical paradise. I have had calls from people in Iowa – strangers who call for various reasons at work – and they think I’m nuts for moving back…but they don’t know me very well. I’m not nuts – I’m insane. LOL

One thing I won’t miss is the transient population. Have a few now that are making noise and being disruptive at Arby’s. One of them keeps belching and farting – it is so disgusting I can’t eat my lunch. I’m starving.

Took Baxter for our walk this morning – it was windy but nice. Spent the 1st round picking up trash that people left laying around. It is disgusting how people litter in the park when there are garbage cans every half block of the trail. Found an ice cream cup that was set on top of a bench within 10 feet of the trash can…talk about lazy, disgusting people.

Electrocution

Received a call the yesterday from a woman who was pretty frantic. It seems her husband decided he was going to trim the large oak tree in their yard himself rather then higher a professional. He was way up in the tree when his chain saw came in contact with the power lines. The electricity jolted through the chainsaw into his right arm.

The force of being electrocuted sent him flying out of the tree – over 15 feet – to the ground where he hit his head and broke his other arm. He was barely conscious but breathing. I didn’t want her to touch him – lord only knows how many burns his body might have and touching them would only be excruciating for him.

We ended up having to air lift him to Tampa. His right arm was so swollen and burnt that they weren’t sure if he would be able to keep it. I hear those commercials all the time from Florida Power and Light that say “Look up” when doing anything near power lines. Apparently this guy didn’t think of that or didn’t realize how close he was. He nicked the line which set the tree on fire but we had it out quickly.

I have now had all the calls that EMD class and regulations calls “major” so guess I should get the easier calls from now on.
