Did you know that glass baking dishes, if left on a hot burner, will explode? I didn’t but I do now. Never would have even thought such a thing could happen but my kitchen is a testament to the fact that it does.
So why did I leave a baking dish on a hot burner? Well, that was total stupidity. I was making spaghetti and turned on the wrong burner without realizing it. The baking dish had the garlic bread in it.
These babies go in 450+ heat in the oven, it really didn’t occur to me that if it didn’t heat evenly it would explode. I do mean explode too. There is glass everywhere. Thankfully the dogs and I were in the living room when the explosion occurred. It was quite loud.
There are still a couple of big pieces on the burner so I am waiting for them to cool a bit before going in there – don’t want to be cleaning up glass and have them explode on me. This could have been a real disaster – I shudder to think what injuries it could have done if the dogs and I were in there. The glass was so hot it burned into the tile.
My Guardian Angel should get a raise because looking after me must keep him/her on their toes…especially in the kitchen.
