About The Author

Wouldn’t it be awesome if chocolate was the cure for everything? Not that I am a big fan of chocolate but a truffle a day sounds quite medicinal. Dark chocolate is suppose to be good for you – so is red wine, which totally blows that theory that only bad things are good for you or is it only good things are bad for you.

So I am supposed to write something about myself that gives the reader a glimpse into my persona. It is hard to know what really to put here – do I reveal too much or say too little? Am I mysterious or an open book? Am I happy, sad, thoughtful, retrospective, etc., etc.?

Let me say up front that I’m not that good in the kitchen. I do like to cook but I get easily sidetracked and the food suffers. Yes, I put on the timer and all that good stuff but it doesn’t help if one ignores the annoying dinging when the timer says the time is up. Right now I have sausage links out there cooking – imagine they are about done cuz the timer went off a little bit ago.

I have never been married. I could give a million jejune reasons but the truth is that I didn’t want a husband when my son was young – I wanted him to have my full attention. When my son moved out, I didn’t want one because it was my time to be selfish. At this juncture of my life, I am still undecided – guess it would depend on a lot of things.

While I have five sisters and one brother that are all living, my folks and grand folks on both sides are dead. I envy those people who still have a parent or grandparent who gives wonderful advice and talks about the “old” days. Somehow I feel very cheated but then I think of my son who also has no grandparents and I feel angry that he was cheated of such a necessity. Life is hard enough without adding the loss of your support system.

States I’ve been to are numerous – I love to travel. I was born & raised in Iowa – lived 8 years in FL and moved back to Iowa last year.  I enjoy photography, hiking, swimming, horse back riding, and a zillion other things. Most of the things I enjoy can be done alone or with others – I don’t like large crowds and often prefer my own company. I will never be accused of being the life of the party – I’m not much for getting drunk and will never do drugs.

My job at the moment is working in law enforcement as a 911 operator. Most of you have read my 911 posts so know what that entails. It isn’t the job I hope to have forever but right now it pays the bills.

Well, I don’t know if this is too much or not enough…I do know my sausages are burning so I will stop for now.

Was just reading your blog. You write very well. It has been nice to feel like I am getting to know you a bit through your writing. My partner and I moved from the place where we both grew up AND sold our town home in the process. So, I can really relate a lot to many of the things you are going through. Hang in there. Best wishes!!! We can chat anytime you like. For now, I will keep reading.

For some of those same reasons we moved from South Alabama to Northern Iowa last year!! For the adventure and for our kids to see something besides south Alabama!!
Honestly though – I’ve about seen enough of the cold and snow and in desperate need of a trip to the Gulf!!!

I’ve enjoyed what I have read on your blog! I’ll have to stop back soon when I’ve got more time to read!

Hello from Montana! I didn’t understand why anyone would ever want to read someones blog…..until I started reading yours. I like the way you write, your insights, humor and humanity. Good luck and God Bless you in all your endeavors.

By the way……some areas of Montana only have 6 months of snow……however the other 2 months are sub-zero. :)

Greetings from Maine! Several years a go you helped to give me support and encouragement when I was going through my divorce. Now, since I’ve started blogging again, I wanted to stop by your site. I know what you’re going through. I moved 13 time before I graduated high school. Dad was a minister. Finding myself in new spaces now, and trying to figure out where I am or belong, I know that it’s a challenge.
I’ll check in from time to time. I hope you are well and enjoyng the weekend.
